About Jane

Richens has been working since the 1980s in diverse arts practices using sculpture, photography, print making, video and performance focusing on individuals and their environments – both social and natural – humans and plant life. Other areas of engagement have been in artist run spaces and arts organisations, communications, design, education, organising events and being an active member in community groups and sustainability activities. Her recent activity includes creating community events that merge science and art and performative interactions with the ecosystems she lives in.

Inspired by dialogues with people in her region about possible ‘futures’ and regional issues, Richens will create a series of site specific performative portraits and tableaus, telling stories of ‘person and practice’.

Creative Development Updates

Jane Richens recently met up with fellow Upper Hunter Regional Futures artist Grace Barnes during their respective creative developments.
